Ages 4-8, parent attendance optional

Big kids know what they like: silly stories, games, and being in charge. Our Rhythm Kids classes for pre-K and early elementary use music games, animal rhythm stories, and active play to match how they learn.

Each 45-minute weekly class includes:

  • Drumming, singing, moving, and rhythm games inspired by global traditions (e.g., West African Gahu, Japanese Taiko, Brazilian Samba)

  • Optional parent attendance

  • New music downloads of class songs

  • Play-along videos

  • Illustrated songbook with family activities

  • Parent and online resources

Rhythm Kids classes are currently being held at MelodyKids in Longmont.
Spring 2026 session starts March 26.

Students will play with a variety of instruments in class: West African djembe drums, auxiliary percussion instruments, and, the most important instruments of all, their voices and their bodies. Classes include:

  • immersion in the musical language of many cultures

  • playful music games with rules

  • opportunities to lead, balanced with opportunities to collaborate

  • deep exposure to complex, fun, and rockin' music

  • many chances to solo, improvise, and work in ensembles
